Duo and CrowdStrike coming soon to all computers

Duo and CrowdStrike will be deployed to all remaining lab-owned computers by the end of August 2023.

By IT Communications

To further the lab’s efforts toward Zero Trust Architecture, SLAC IT will deploy Duo and CrowdStrike on all new servers and computers. The installations will be rolled out in two phases; servers, beginning April 1, and computers, beginning May 1.

Duo and CrowdStrike, our main multi-factor authentication and antivirus protection, will be deployed to all remaining lab-owned computers by the end of August 2023.

Duo implementation
The Duo rollout is expected to be transparent, requiring no action on your part. Once Duo is installed on your computer, you will need to use Duo to log on. Exceptions to this requirement include shared and service accounts.

Duo will be rolled out to computers based on the custodian as documented in the Property Control database. As a reminder, please verify that you are the custodian of any computers assigned to you by Property Control. If you are unsure, check the database (VPN required).

If you are not already enrolled in Duo, you may do so at the Duo enrollment website (must be on the SLAC network to access). If you believe your computer should be exempted from Duo, please review the Duo FAQ for information about exemptions.

For questions or concerns, please submit the feedback form. To report any problems, contact the IT Service Desk.
